Anchor casting method

Release time:2023-06-15
Anchoring and berthing of ships is a commonly used method of berthing. The process is roughly as follows: the anchor connected by anchor chains or cables on the ship is thrown into the water and landed on the ground, causing it to mesh into the soil. The grip generated by the anchor solidifies with the bottom of the water, firmly tying the ship to the predetermined position. According to different water areas, meteorological conditions, operational requirements, and anchor casting methods, commonly used methods include first anchoring, last anchoring, and first and last anchoring.

1. Bow anchoring
There are two types of bow anchoring: single anchor and double anchor. In general, only a single anchor can be used to secure the ship, and double anchors can only be used when the wind and waves are particularly strong and the anchorage is narrow. When the bow of the ship is anchored, the external forces such as wind, water flow, and wave impact on the hull are the least, so this method is the main way to anchor and anchor, and it is also the main reason for the main anchor being arranged in the bow of the ship. Usually, small boats and fishing boats only have one bow anchor. In addition, any ship is equipped with two main bow anchors at the bow. When the captain reaches a certain level, another backup main anchor, also known as a wind resistant anchor, should be installed on the ship.

2. Anchoring at the stern of the ship
Anchoring at the stern of a ship is often used for inland vessels and landing boats. When inland vessels are sailing downstream and berthing, they often use stern anchoring to ensure safety and avoid turning around. During the landing ship's retreat from the beach, with the cooperation of the main engine, the anchor machine pulls the anchored ship down from the beach.

3. Anchor at the beginning and end
If you want the anchored ship to always be on the side of the ship and facing the wind, use the bow and stern anchoring method. The method of anchoring head and tail is generally to throw the main anchor from the windward direction, connect a cable from the stern around the outer side of the ship's side with the already thrown main anchor chain, and then release some main anchor chains. Another method is to throw the tail anchor from the tail after the first main anchor is thrown out. The tail anchor is usually carried out and dropped in a small boat, and the tail anchor is generally smaller than the main anchor, about one-third of the main anchor
